does anyone have a source for low cost credit card acceptance that is not going to demand a different bank account than the one you have or a machine that you have to buy? Punching in by phone is fine with me but not interested in buying a machine

Re: credit card acceptance
Fri, March 28, 2008 - 2:54 PMI'm in a similar situation, although I did set up a different bank account (USBank, $300 to open, no fees).
USBank has web-based acceptance that you might use (get the Customer's info, validate the sale by phone, process the transaction when you get back home from Faire): www.myvirtualmerchant.com/Virtu...chant/ (run the 'Demo' to learn more).
USBank's "ARU Processing (call in option, no equipment)" runs 3.50% and 50 cents per transaction.
This is not meant to be an endorsement for USBank, it's just that I happen to have easy access right now to the information they sent me. I still haven't decided how I'm going to handle this situation.

Re: credit card acceptance
Tue, April 1, 2008 - 11:56 AMI have a machine because I have a fixed location, but if I remember correctly when I signed up, they said something about doing phone acceptance only. I've used their phone acceptance when out in the field - works great.
Oh, tell you the bank - duh.
Bank of the West - they been good to me - worth calling them to find out, and they might be able to recommend you in the right direction. They use Nova system.

Re: credit card acceptance
Sun, April 13, 2008 - 11:41 PMI had a Wells Fargo biz account. Got their 'dial-up' account.
No machines - all you need is a phone (cell or otherwise).
Percentage and fees aren't too bad and you can run a card in ANY area you get cell reception.
Been using it for 3 yrs.....
my two pence.....
