Bud Moody, long time crew member and owner of Shepherds Pie/Bangers at the Southern California faire has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Bud and Joyce would like to go back to Australia so he can get care there. As an Australian citizen he falls under their health care program. The problem is the money for the flights. We should already have one coach ticket (80,000 miles ). Does anyone have 65,000 miles on United they can give so we can get him home? All of the miles must come from one account. That account can only accept 15,000 miles a year, which we have as extra right now.

Per United the cost is 80,000 miles coach, 100,000 miles business, and 140,000 miles first class.

If you have any questions, you can contact me or Michelle Amsbury.

Thanks,

Patrick

    X-Post

I don't know Bud but at Connecticut Renaissance Faire this year I learned of this group:

    RESCU Foundation
    707 State Route 725 #123
    Dayton, OH 45459
    1-800-374-9215

    www.rescufoundation.org/index.htm

    Their mission statement is:

"The RESCU Foundation is a non-profit organization established to promote and maintain the health and medical well-being of the participants of Renaissance Faires, historical performances and other artistic events through financial assistance, education, advocacy, and preventative programs."

I have little experience with them but it might be worth seeing if they might be able to help.

Ordinarily I would not accept a cross-posted discussion here but there may be more of you who, while you didn't work Blackpoint or know Bud, you might be able to help out in some way.
Patrick, have you looked into CERF? Crafts Emergency Relief Fund
Don't know if it applies to Bud or his situation but can't hurt to look into them. www.craftemergency.org
