how do you folk advertise. I have used a couple of different venues and most were pretty non functional for me. I tried one venture where I ended up with quite the problem with the person involved with it. I just did not understand that I would pay a fee to be in the thing and then have to try and sell the listings too. I feel kind of stupid that I did not get all this squared away in the first place but no one ever wanted me to do that before. was I clueless there or what.
What do you folks use to advertise. I don't really do a web page, all of my items are 100% handmade and 100% different from each other.

Re: advertising
Tue, October 2, 2007 - 7:09 PMI've been using Etsy.com. a Myspace page and bulletins from that - and that has been working quite well, though I did have to take the time to go out and requit people to add me as their friend.
Conventional ways - local area BBS systems, newspaper ads, getting the local paper to write an article on my store.

Re: advertising
Thu, October 25, 2007 - 7:54 AMWe've been wanting to get some more wholesale business through museums and historic sites so we shelled out $275 to get a membership with the Museum Store Assn. www.museumdistrict.com/ in order to get listed in their database of suppliers for Museum gift stores. They also have targeted mailing lists you can buy from them once your become a member. They do not pro-rate the membership, but we were told if we put off joining until October we would be covered for all of 2008 as well as the end of 2007. Got our fingers crossed
We also joined www.museumsusa.org/ A couple months ago and I know I've had at least one wholesale inquiry that said they heard about us through Museumsusa.
